Compensation and Benefits
The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD $132750-162250 per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks. The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Eligible employees also have the opportunity to participate in an array of benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, a health spending account, a defined contribution pension plan, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, etc.

Job Description
Job Summary
This role is leading the modeling team in Toronto, which is part of the Global Cat Modeling department, which operates from Singapore, Toronto and Zurich. It is responsible for quantifying the company’s Cat risk in close collaboration with the Cat Research, Portfolio Analytics and Tools & Technology departments.
The team delivers Cat modeling analytics to support underwriting in risk analyses and business decisions. It provides input to portfolio modeling and reporting to various stakeholders. It further drives projects to enhance its value-adding analytics, efficiency and effectiveness.
The role combines technical and people leadership to be a change agent.
About the Role
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of catastrophe modeling analysts fostering technical excellence, accountability, and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee the delivery of accurate, timely, consistent and value-adding catastrophe modelling analyses and act as a trusted expert to Underwriting, Actuarial and Risk Management on Cat risk assessment.
- Provide expert interpretation of catastrophe model results and translate them into business recommendations.
- Contribute to the Group Portfolio modeling and reporting tasks as well as post Cat loss estimations.
- Lead discussions with clients, brokers and senior management.
- Keep up to date with latest developments and advancements in the Cat modeling field and propose innovative solutions.
- Champion innovation and operational excellence across catastrophe modelling workflows, tools and analytics.
- Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency gains and enhanced analytical capabilities and lead / sponsor related projects.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and continuous learning.
- Lead junior team members in project related tasks.
Work Expereince and Qualifications
Technical Skills
You are passionate about Cat modeling to quantify risk in the reinsurance industry, and you bring:
- Deep and expert experience and knowledge of catastrophe modelling and related fields, with willingness to be a hands-on modeler when needed.
- Extensive expertise in exposure data and vendor Cat models combined with excellent analytical and coding skills.
- Superior complex problem-solving skills with a new and end-to-end perspective on existing solutions as well as a proven track record of successfully completed cross-functional projects.
- Ability to work on multiple complex tasks in parallel and prioritize effectively.
- Profound understanding of reinsurance industry, including external participants and market forces and trends and the ability to support the development of the strategy of the department.
- Effective communication skills which you can adapt to the target audience.
Soft Skills
- Excellent and proven track record of leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and deliver tasks under time and resource constraints.
- Pro-active, pragmatic, solution oriented with a high level of self-initiative, ownership and responsibility.
- Ability to communicate clearly technical aspects to various audiences.
Work Experience and Education
- 6+ years of experience in Cat modeling within the (re)insurance industry.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, either as a formal manager or senior technical lead in Cat modeling and projects.
- Recognized technical expert in catastrophe risk assessment.
- A University degree in the field of Natural science or mathematically demanding science
