Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD $82,600 - 100,000 per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks. The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements.

 

In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Eligible employees also have the opportunity to participate in an array of benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, a health spending account, a defined contribution pension plan, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, etc.

 

Working Arrangement

PartnerRe operates with a hybrid work approach that balances in‑office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. Our employees are required to be in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). This position is for an existing vacancy within our organization and is a 6 month fixed term contract.

Position Summary:

 

The HR Specialist will provide hands-on HR support across North America, based out of Toronto. This role will help deliver day-to-day HR services, support employee enquiries, HR processes, and work with the wider HR team to ensure activities are handled consistently and in line with applicable company policies and employment legislation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Act as first point of contact to address employee enquiries including benefits and policies.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Administer benefits programs including health, retirement, and wellness plans.
  • Support the annual benefits enrollment and communication planning.
  • Support initiatives that promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Support employees, including managers, with HR-related questions, policies, and processes.
  • Work with Global HRBPs to support local employee relations matters, performance management activities, and probation processes. 
  • Manage leave management processes and coordinate with payroll, including parental leaves, disability, and other applicable statutory or company leave programs across North America.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and internal policies across North America.
  • Support audits, compliance, and reporting requirements as needed.
  • Support global and regional HR projects and process improvements as needed.
  • Contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of HR experience, preferably in a multinational or professional/financial services environment.
  • Working knowledge of North American HR practices and employment requirements, with exposure to U.S. labour law posting requirements considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and US immigration or work authorization processes is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, proactively and collaboratively in a matrixed organization.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (preferably SAP Success Factors HCM) and Microsoft Office Suite.
