Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD $72,360 – $88,440 per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks. The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements.

 

In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Eligible employees also have the opportunity to participate in an array of benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, a health spending account, a defined contribution pension plan, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, etc.

 

Working Arrangement

About the Position

 

We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our NAL Finance team, supporting the Canadian legal entity with a focus on IFRS 17 reporting, financial analysis, and regulatory deliverables. This role offers strong exposure to senior stakeholders, complex reinsurance structures, and end-to-end financial reporting processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage and reconcile technical deposits and payments within the sub-ledger; partner with Operations and Administration teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly aged net technical receivables reporting and provide insights on movements and collectability.
  • Prepare quarterly technical accrual journal entries, including detailed variance analysis (vs. Plan, prior quarter, and prior year), and reconcile intercompany balances and transactions.
  • Execute IFRS 17 accounting processes within Risk Integrity, including analysis, validation, and interpretation of financial results.
  • Support the analysis of quarterly financial results and perform ledger reconciliations within PeopleSoft, proactively identifying and resolving variances.
  • Support quarterly regulatory reporting for the Canadian legal entity, including filings with OSFI and Statistics Canada.
  • Contribute to year-end close and the preparation of audited financial statements under IFRS.
  • Support management and board reporting, including preparation of analysis and presentation materials for senior leadership.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors, providing support and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain robust documentation of financial processes, controls, and reporting outputs.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency and control.
  • Participate in ad hoc analysis and cross-functional projects as the business evolves.

 

About You

 

  • 3+ years work experience in financial reporting, accounting, or audit
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Risk Integrity) is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Finance and Accounting
  • Intention to pursue (or actively pursuing) a professional accounting designation.
