Job Description
Job Summary
This is a global role overseeing actuarial platforms used across North America, Europe, and APAC. You will ensure these platforms, with AXIS as the primary system, operate reliably, securely, and efficiently while supporting a diverse global actuarial community.
The L&H Finance & Actuarial IT team provides the technology foundations that enable Actuarial and Finance functions across Life & Health. We design, oversee, and continuously enhance the platforms, integrations, environments, and controls that support valuation, pricing, reporting, and related analytical processes. Our work spans infrastructure coordination, platform reliability, access governance, vendor and license management, and implementation of secure, efficient, and compliant solutions. As our landscape evolves, we proactively adapt technology capabilities to meet both todays and tomorrow’s business needs in a cost‑effective and compliant manner.
About the Role
- You will act as the product owner for our actuarial platform landscape, with Axis as the primary system under your stewardship and additional platforms likely to fall within scope as our environment evolves. You will own the platform holistically, defining and maintaining clear responsibilities between business stakeholders, IT infrastructure, operations, and vendor teams. You will develop and drive the platform roadmap and life-cycle, prioritize enhancements and operational needs in line with business demand and available capacity, ensure compliance and governance requirements are met, manage licenses and access, maintain and create documentation, and oversee cost, compute capacity, and storage usage to ensure efficient and sustainable operation across all regions (APAC, EU, and NA).
- A key part of your role is Stakeholder and Vendor Management. You will work closely with business partners, primarily actuaries, to understand their needs, clarify priorities, and support them through periods of high workloads. You will coordinate updates, releases, and UAT cycles with vendors and internal teams to ensure smooth operations. You will also liaise with internal teams such as Cloud Infrastructure, Risk, Security and Compliance, Procurement, Legal, and Data Protection to ensure alignment, issue resolution, and timely approvals as required for platform evolution and ongoing operations.
- You will also contribute through Hands On Technical Collaboration. While you are not expected to act as a full-time engineer, you will proactively identify gaps and help bridge them by creating and maintaining small-scale production ready tools or scripts using our technology stack (Python, SQL, Snowflake, PowerApps, PowerShell). You will collaborate with other team members to review and improve automation, scheduled tasks, and data processes, and you will understand the platform architecture deeply enough to challenge inefficiencies, propose improvements, and support the team in implementing them.
- Together, these three pillars, product ownership, outstanding stakeholder management, and technical capability, ensure you can take full ownership of the platforms entrusted to you and keep them running efficiently, predictably, and in alignment with the needs of a global L&H organization.
Qualification and Work Experience
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of cloud environments, with enough networking knowledge to work effectively with infrastructure teams, assess resource usage (CPU/memory/storage), and coordinate monitoring, scaling, and optimization with operations.
- Strong hands‑on skills in SQL (incl. Snowflake), Python/VB.Net, and PowerShell/PowerApps to deliver production‑ready data transformations, procedures, and lightweight automations tailored to bespoke business requirements.
- Ability to understand how a platform or solution works end‑to‑end, including component interactions, potential weak points, and how to drive targeted improvements in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Ability to define and maintain clear roles and responsibilities and keep teams aligned so that no topics fall between functions.
- Proven experience owning and maintaining a product roadmap, prioritizing initiatives and requests with stakeholders, and balancing value, risk, and delivery capacity.
- Ability to maintain a clear grip on budgets, licenses, and vendors, including cost transparency, contract oversight, and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction with delivered services
Soft Skills
- You are structured, reliable, with a strong sense of ownership and can-do attitude.
- You bring clarity to complex or fragmented situations, communicate effectively across busy teams, and ensure follow through until issues are fully resolved.
- You are comfortable operating in a hybrid role that spans platform management, stakeholder engagement, light engineering, and product direction.
- You actively build trust with stakeholders and strong partnerships across technical teams, proactively creating the connections needed to avoid siloed work or communication gaps.
Work Expereince and Education
- Typically 3–6 years of experience in a technology, platform, or analytical role, or a mix of technical and business‑facing responsibilities
- Experience working with enterprise systems or data platforms, ideally in a financial, actuarial, or other regulated environment
- Some hands‑on technical experience, such as scripting, data processing, automation, or basic application development, with willingness to deepen these skills on the job
- Exposure to working with business users and IT teams, supporting platform usage, enhancements, or day‑to‑day operations
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical, quantitative, or analytical field (e.g. computer science, engineering, mathematics, actuarial science, finance, or similar)
