ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a senior individual contributor role for a high-calibre actuarial professional who will play a key role in strengthening PartnerRe’s APAC valuation and control infrastructure, advancing model development capabilities, and supporting high-quality financial and regulatory reporting across multiple valuation bases.

 

 

ABOUT YOU

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end development, enhancement and governance of seriatim valuation models using Moody’s AXIS actuarial software. This includes delivering production-ready models for quarterly implementation across multiple reporting bases (including US GAAP LDTI, IFRS 17, Solvency II, BMA, MAS, HK RBC), partnering with APAC Line of Business owners to ensure models meet required technical, governance and control standards, and driving continuous improvement in processes, tools and documentation. The role also requires clear communication of results and effective coaching of junior team members.
  • Drive a robust SOX control environment, promote consistent modelling standards and methodologies, and identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency and strengthen the long-term scalability of valuation models.
  • Lead model development and enhancement initiatives, including AXIS feature testing, annual version upgrades, and the development and maintenance of in-house actuarial models and supporting infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the broader APAC Valuation agenda, including quarterly reporting (including US GAAP LDTI, IFRS 17, Solvency II, BMA, MAS, HK RBC), in-force management, audit support, and the implementation of regional and global initiatives and strategic projects.

 

Work Experience, Skills, & Competencies

  • 6+ years of relevant actuarial experience in life insurance or reinsurance, including substantial hands-on exposure to valuation, model development and financial reporting.
  • Good understanding of AXIS model development would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Life & Health products in APAC markets, supported by sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in in-force management and experience studies would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with relevant actuarial and analytical tools would be beneficial, including AXIS, Risk Integrity, IFRS 17 Link, US GAAP Link, R, SQL, Excel, VBA and Business Objects.
  • Strong knowledge of one or more relevant reporting or solvency regimes, such as US GAAP LDTI, IFRS 17, Solvency II, BMA, MAS, HK RBC.
  • High degree of accountability, with a strong sense of ownership and delivery focus.
  • Ability to maintain and enhance a strong and effective control environment.
  • Collaborative, adaptable and capable of working effectively across functions and geographies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.

 

Professional Qualifications or Designations

  • Qualified Actuary, or close to qualification
