Job Description
Job Summary:
The Data Platform Engineer is responsible for building, optimizing and maintaining PartnerRe’s enterprise data platform, with a primary focus on Snowflake engineering. The role involves developing scalable SQL-based ETL/ELT pipelines, enabling reliable data ingestion using StreamSets and Openflow, and supporting secure dataset sharing through Snowflake’s native data sharing and marketplace capabilities. This role works closely with data architects, analytics teams, and platform engineers to deliver high-quality, performant data solutions that support critical business functions including Underwriting, Finance, and Risk.
About the Role:
- Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines, data models, and ELT transformations in Snowflake.
- Build and maintain SQL-based ETL/ELT pipelines delivering data into Snowflake.
- Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines using StreamSets and Openflow.
- Implement Snowflake Secure Data Sharing and support internal data marketplace capabilities for sharing datasets across teams.
- Optimize Snowflake query performance, compute usage, and storage efficiency.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline failures, performance issues, and data quality problems.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and automation to ensure reliable data platform operations.
- Collaborate with data architects, BI teams, and platform engineers to support enterprise data initiatives.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills

- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake data platform engineering.
- Advanced SQL development and performance optimization.
- Experience designing and building ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Experience with StreamSets and Openflow or similar data integration tools.
- Experience implementing Snowflake Secure Data Sharing or dataset sharing frameworks.
- Understanding of data warehousing architecture and data modelling.
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift).
- Experience working with cloud storage platforms such as Azure Blob Storage.

- Ability to work effectively in complex enterprise data environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration across technical and business teams.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data quality and reliability.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 6+ years of experience in data platform operations, data engineering, or related support functions.
- Demonstrated experience building Snowflake-based data solutions and scalable data pipelines.
